Professional Coffee Machine Repairs in Perth for Homes and Businesses
For a lot of people, the day starts with the coffee machine. When it suddenly stops brewing, loses pressure, or refuses to turn on, it is more than an inconvenience. The good news is that most coffee machine faults come down to a single component and can often be repaired without replacing the machine.
Perth’s hard water is one of the biggest contributors to coffee machine faults in this city. Mineral deposits build up gradually inside boilers, brew heads, valves, and internal water lines, restricting flow and affecting performance long before the machine stops working altogether. In areas such as Mount Hawthorn and City Beach, where bore water use is more common, those deposits can accumulate even faster, placing additional strain on internal components over time.
Since 2009, Quality Appliance Repairs has been supporting households, cafés, restaurants, and hotels across Perth with professional coffee machine repairs. Our licensed and certified technicians assess every machine in our dedicated workshop, where they see everything from home espresso machines to high-volume commercial systems. Every repair is properly diagnosed before work begins and thoroughly tested before the machine is returned.
Common coffee machine faults we repair include:
- No power or failure to turn on
- Water leakage or pump failures
- Blocked brew heads or steam wands
- Grinder malfunctions
- Temperature control issues
If your machine is showing any of these signs, the sooner it is looked at, the simpler the fix tends to be. Call our support team, available Monday to Saturday, and we will work out the best option for you.
Types Of Coffee Machines We Regularly Repair
Common Coffee Machine Faults We Are Finding Across Perth in 2026
From the inner suburbs to the outer metro area, our workshop is seeing a consistent range of coffee machine faults across Perth. Here is what is coming through regularly.
A Miele coffee machine came into the workshop reported as not dispensing coffee. The technician opened the unit, found the brew unit assembly had failed, and replaced it with a brand new component. The machine was fully tested across multiple functions before leaving the workshop and confirmed working correctly.
When a Miele stops dispensing coffee entirely, the brew unit assembly is one of the first components a technician should be checking. On premium machines like Miele, replacing the assembly with a genuine part rather than attempting a partial fix is what ensures the repair holds long term.
A DeLonghi ECAM370 came into the workshop with the power tripping every time a descale cycle was attempted. The customer had already tried troubleshooting without success. On inspection the technician found the coffee boiler was leaking internally. The o-ring and high temperature hose were replaced, the unit descaled, and everything tested correctly before leaving the workshop.
A machine that trips power during descaling is not always an electrical fault. In this case the root cause was a leaking boiler that only revealed itself under the pressure of a descale cycle. Identifying the correct component on the first inspection avoided unnecessary parts being ordered and resolved the fault completely. For descaling tips, read our step-by-step guide on how to descale your coffee machine.
A Jura S8 came into the workshop reported with a water leak and failure to turn on. Parts had already been sourced prior to the repair visit. The technician installed a brand new spout assembly and Y valve connector, tested the machine across its full range of functions, and confirmed everything working correctly before the unit was returned.
Water leaks on Jura machines can affect multiple components at once, particularly when the fault has been developing for some time before the machine is brought in. Replacing both the spout assembly and the valve connector in the same visit ensured the repair was complete rather than addressing one symptom and missing another.
A Breville Barista Touch came into the workshop displaying an ER05 error code and reported as having a power issue. On inspection the technician found the milk jug sensor was faulty. The sensor was replaced with a brand new component and the machine tested correctly with the error code cleared before leaving the workshop.
Error codes on Breville machines are not always pointing to what they appear to be. An ER05 presenting as a power issue was traced to a sensor fault, not an electrical one. Getting the diagnosis right before ordering parts is what kept this repair to a single workshop visit.
Should You Repair or Replace Your Coffee Machine in Perth?
Most coffee machine faults come down to a single component. Based on the jobs our Perth workshop has handled in 2026, here is an honest breakdown of what we are seeing and what we recommend.
| Appliance Fault | Age | Repair or Replace | Adjusted Lifespan | Reason |
| Brew unit assembly failure causing no coffee output | 3-7 yrs | REPAIR | +4-5 years | A brew unit assembly replacement on a premium machine like Miele is almost always worth doing. The machine has significant lifespan remaining and genuine parts are available. |
| Leaking coffee boiler tripping power during descaling | 2-6 yrs | REPAIR | +3-4 years | A leaking boiler looks worse than it is. Once the source is identified, an o-ring and hose replacement resolves the fault completely and the machine returns to full operation. |
| Spout assembly and valve connector fault causing water leak and failure to turn on | 3-7 yrs | REPAIR | +4-5 years | On a premium machine like Jura, replacing both components in the same visit ensures the repair is complete rather than addressing one symptom and missing another. |
| Milk jug sensor fault showing as error code | 2-5 yrs | REPAIR | +3 years | A sensor replacement is a straightforward single component fix. An error code on a Breville does not mean the machine needs replacing, it needs the right part identified and fitted. |
| Water pooling in drip tray, probes and seal set replacement required | 2-6 yrs | REPAIR | +3-4 years | Leaking into the drip tray is almost always a seal or probe fault rather than a structural issue. A single workshop visit with the right parts resolves it completely. |
Coffee Machine Maintenance Tips for Perth Homes and Businesses
Perth’s bore water and dry heat put coffee machines under more consistent load than most machine owners realise. These habits come directly from what our technicians are finding in the workshop across Perth in 2026.
Stay on Top of Descaling
Bore water in Perth carries higher mineral and sediment levels than mains water, meaning scale builds up faster than the manufacturer’s recommended interval suggests. If your machine is on bore water, descale more frequently and always complete the full cycle.
Rinse the Brew Group Regularly
Remove and rinse the brew group every few days rather than waiting for a weekly clean. Coffee oils harden over time and are one of the most common causes of poor output our workshop sees.
Clean the Steam Wand Immediately After Use
Milk residue dries within minutes and restricts steam flow faster than most people expect. A quick purge and wipe after every session prevents a blockage that requires a workshop visit to clear.
Check the Drip Tray Before It Overflows
Empty and clean the drip tray every few days rather than waiting for the indicator. An overflowing tray pushes water into the base of the machine and causes internal damage that is not immediately visible.
Consider a Water Filter if You Are on Bore Water
A basic inline filter significantly reduces how quickly scale accumulates inside the machine. For Perth households on bore water it is one of the most practical steps you can take to extend appliance life.
Book an Annual Service
A machine used daily needs a proper workshop service at least once a year regardless of whether a fault is present. Most of the performance and taste issues our technicians see trace back to buildup that has been developing quietly for twelve months or more.

Frequently Asked Questions
In most cases yes, and here is why. The majority of coffee machine faults come down to a single component — a pump, a sensor, a valve, or a boiler seal. The machine itself is usually fine. What looks like a complete breakdown is almost always one part that has worn out or failed, and once that is identified and replaced, the machine runs as it should. Around 90% of the machines that come through our Perth workshop leave repaired. The ones that do not are usually older units where multiple systems have failed at the same time or where the cost of parts makes repair uneconomical. We will tell you honestly which category yours falls into after the assessment.
Yes, and the commercial side is something we take seriously. A machine running back to back service in a restaurant or hotel is under a completely different level of demand than a home machine doing two or three coffees a day. Pumps wear faster, valves cycle more frequently, and heating systems run harder. Our Perth workshop handles both domestic and commercial units and the diagnostic process is the same for both — thorough inspection, proper testing across the full range of functions, and nothing leaving until we are confident it is performing correctly. If you are a business with multiple machines or ongoing service needs, speak to our team directly about what we can put in place for you.
Water leaks are one of those faults that look straightforward but rarely are. The water you can see pooling on the bench or in the drip tray is almost never coming from where it appears to be. Inside a coffee machine, water travels along hoses, through valves, and around boiler fittings before it finds somewhere to exit. A leak at the base of the machine could be originating from a boiler hose, an o-ring, a valve connector, or a seal sitting much higher up inside the unit. We had a DeLonghi come in that was tripping the power during descaling — the customer thought it was electrical, but the actual cause was a leaking coffee boiler putting water where it should not have been. The only way to find where a leak is actually coming from is to open the machine and trace it properly.
This one catches a lot of people out because the assumption is always that the descaling product or the cycle itself is causing the trip. In most cases it is not. What is actually happening is that the descaling cycle puts the internal water system under pressure and flow conditions that expose a fault that was already there. A leaking boiler, a damaged hose, or a failing internal seal will often hold up fine during normal brewing but give way under the sustained pressure of a descale cycle. The power trips because water is reaching somewhere it should not be. If your machine is tripping during descaling, stop running the cycle and bring it in. Continuing to force it through will almost always make the underlying fault worse.
Usually a service, but it depends on how long the problem has been developing. If the taste has changed gradually over time, the cause is almost always internal buildup — scale on the boiler affecting temperature, coffee oils in the brew group affecting extraction, or residue in the lines affecting flow. A proper workshop service addresses all of that and in most cases brings the coffee straight back to where it should be. If the taste issue has come on suddenly or is paired with other symptoms like unusual noise, inconsistent pressure, or a change in extraction time, that points more toward a component fault than buildup alone. Either way bring it in and we will work it out from there.
