Why is my stove not heating up correctly?

If your stove burners aren’t heating evenly or not turning on at all, the issue could be electrical (in electric stoves) or gas-related (in gas stoves). In electric stoves, a faulty element, damaged connection, or malfunctioning switch could be to blame. For gas units, blocked burner ports, a faulty igniter, or issues with the gas supply are common culprits.

At Quality Appliance Repair, we often encounter this issue in Perth homes and restaurants, particularly in older stoves or those subjected to heavy daily use. Our technicians begin by testing the electrical circuit or gas components and inspecting for build-up, corrosion, or damaged parts. Uneven heat can also be caused by worn or misaligned components. Addressing these issues early prevents further damage and ensures your cooking appliance remains reliable and safe.

Do you repair all types and brands of stoves in Perth?

Yes. At Quality Appliance Repair, we service a wide range of stove types used throughout Perth, including electric coil, ceramic glass, induction, and gas cooktops. Our technicians are trained to work on all major brands such as Westinghouse, Smeg, Bosch, Chef, Fisher & Paykel, Euromaid, and more. We also service freestanding stove-oven combinations, which are common in both residential homes and commercial kitchens.

Each brand and model has its own unique components and repair methods, which is why we stay up to date with manufacturer specifications and carry commonly needed parts in our service vehicles. Whether your stove is a basic electric model or a high-end gas unit with digital controls, we’re equipped to diagnose faults accurately and provide reliable repairs.

What causes the ignition on my gas stove to stop working?

A non-functioning ignition system is a frequent issue in gas stoves, especially in humid Perth kitchens or areas with poor ventilation. The most common causes include food or grease blocking the igniter, a worn spark electrode, or a faulty ignition switch. Moisture buildup can also interfere with the spark connection, preventing ignition.

At Quality Appliance Repair, our Perth technicians often find that a simple clean or component replacement is all that’s needed. However, in some cases, the entire ignition module may need to be repaired or replaced. Safety is always the priority — faulty igniters can lead to gas leaks or inconsistent flame control. Whether in a family kitchen or commercial setting, a working ignition system is critical for both performance and safety. Proper maintenance and expert diagnosis are key to keeping your gas stove operating smoothly.

Why does my stove smell like gas even when it’s turned off?

A gas smell coming from your stove, especially when it’s not in use, is a serious safety concern. In Perth homes, this issue is often linked to a gas leak from the connection hose, valve, or one of the burners not closing properly. Even a slight leak can pose a fire or health risk and should be checked immediately.

At Quality Appliance Repair, we’ve handled many cases of suspected gas leaks across Perth. Our licensed technicians are trained to detect and isolate the leak safely, inspect the fittings, and test the appliance for compliance. In some cases, it may be due to a faulty ignition valve or loose connection. Gas appliances should always be serviced by qualified professionals, and ongoing smells of gas should never be ignored.
